I don’t know if it’s because I am sick and exhausted, but I just had a full-on tear swell watching Oprah announce the end of her show. She’s right - lots of people have grown up with her show; it began airing when I was 7 and I do not remember a time in my life when it was not on every afternoon.
As cheese-balls as it sounds, Oprah is in many ways like a second mother to me. I find her presence calming, nurturing, steady, and obviously consistent. I once worked on a project for her, and in my experience she was all these things in person with no cameras rolling, too. I’m straight-up heartbroken.
The prospect of life without the Oprah show is downright frightening.
A salute to a fellow
Who hasn’t a chance.
